Business confidence ‘still strong’ after referendum vote

The owner of a company that specialises in direct marketing including printing says that many businesses are looking to the future with more confidence after things settle down following the EU referendum vote.

Alastair Smith, who runs Print & Mail Runner, which is based in Hexham, Northumberland and provides printing and mailing materials, says that he is experiencing continuing strong interest in his services.

He said: “The run up to Christmas is always a good time to gauge business confidence and I am seeing a lot of orders coming in for printed products, including for Christmas events and Christmas promotions.

“What is encouraging is that they are not just the standard items that are always ordered but that an increasing number of clients are prepared to spend a little bit extra on something a bit special, something of higher quality.

“I think that indictates that business confidence remains high. Yes, things have changed following the Referendum vote and yes, there will be bumps in the road but business people realise that life goes on.

“They feel that a lot of the predictions of doom and gloom if we voted to leave Europe have not come true, that the Sun will still come up in the morning and that there is still business to be done.

“I have been saying for some time that there is more positivity around when I talk to my clients and that has continued into the Autumn.”
