North Yorkshire kitchen company breaks into the European market

A rapidly growing business based in North Yorkshire has started to export, having sold five of its bespoke kitchens to customers in France.

Oak Free Standing Kitchens, which has its showroom and workshops in Leeming Bar, near Northallerton, was formed eleven years ago and already designs and produces kitchens for customers based all over the UK, from the Orkneys to Cornwall.

The business, which employs six staff, including two craftsmen, produces high quality and unique kitchens using the very best oak and granite and now the company’s reputation is spreading abroad.

Managing Director Jason Hadlow said: “We are already creating kitchens for customers the length and breadth of the UK but the move into France is a new thing for us.

“It is remarkable that customers in France have been able to find our company in the North Yorkshire countryside.

“We are looking to expand further into the export trade as we continue to grow. A lot of people said that the European Union referendum vote would be bad for companies seeking to trade with Europe but our view is that there are opportunities out there.

“We look forward to taking advantage of the potential offered by international trade and are looking forward to the opportunities that open up when the UK signs new trade deals.”
