Spreading the love as print undergoes a transformation

The owner of a company that specialises in direct marketing and printing says that he is seeing a definite shift in the way his clients regard printed products.

Alastair Smith, who runs Print & Mail Runner, which is based in Hexham, Northumberland, is running a series of special offers in February as part of his Love Print campaign to encourage people to use print more.

He believes that print is occupying a different place in the market place because it is now viewed as something special with more and more of his clients seeking higher quality products.

Alastair said: “If you go back to the beginnings of print it was something exciting, a way of getting information out to the mass populace.

“That was the case for centuries but the arrival of email and social media changed that. Inevitably, they became the mass media and that is unlikely to change.

“However, predictions that print would die have proved wide of the mark, it is just that it has changed.

“Now it is seen as a premium product, something tangible that will last. The ordinary has become extraordinary and my clients certainly reflect that in the way they view it.

“They are prepared to pay a little more for higher quality products. They can probably get printing done cheaper elsewhere but my focus is on quality.

“We have to get away from this drive to the bottom. Cheap is not necessarily best and our Love Print campaign reflects the idea that print has become something special.”

The offers run throughout February and the company can be contacted at Office 1, 36 Gibson Fields, Hexham, Northumberland NE46 1AS Tel: 0191 580 2031 E-mail sales@pm-runner.co.uk
